Cork World Book Festival brings books and reading to a wider public, making them more accessible to people in the heart of the city. Since 2005, the Fest has established itself as a lively addition to Cork's cultural calendar. The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race July 1st - July 9th 2010
The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race will visit Cork for 9 days of free festivities from 01 July to 09 July visiting both Kinsale and Cork City. Come and see the ten 68ft yachts which have sailed around the world over the last 9 months including Ireland's entry 'Cork'. The 31st Beamish Cork Folk Festival

Sponsored by Beamish, brewers of the famous Irish stout, the festival presents the best local, national and international folk music, attracting artists from all over the world in celebration of Irish native music, singing, song making and storytelling traditions. Irish dancing is very popular, with Irish dancing and set dances indigenous to Cork taught in special workshops, as well as other styles, like clog dancing and the Cajun two-step. Players of traditional instruments - like the button accordion, fiddle, pipes, flute and whistle - demonstrate their skills, and keen musicians can participate in master-classes in these instruments. Cork Jazz Festival

In the past, Ireland's largest jazz event has attracted some of the genre's greatest names including Ella Fitzgerald, Art Blakely and Dizzy Gillespie to name but a few. Every year, sponsored by Guinness, the city of Cork hosts four days of this superlative music, incorporating the many jazz styles such as bebop, swing, freeform, dixieland and traditional, with a top line-up of over 1,000 musicians from more than 25 countries entertaining the fans with performances day and night on five separate stages in the city centre. As well as savouring the sounds of jazz, take a wander around Cork itself, which dates back to the sixth century and offers a wide range of interesting architectural and historical sights. Internationally held in high regard, this festival was created to celebrate the art of film, developing an ever-increasing and enthusiastic audience of filmmakers and film-lovers over the years. For the vibrant city of Cork, it is one of the most important events in the social and cultural calendar. With screenings and associated lectures throughout the week, the programme is wide-ranging, an eclectic mix of big-budget movies, world cinema, innovative independent films, animation, documentaries, student projects and short films.
