The beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny lies an hour's north of Dungarvan.

Kilkenny Design Centre, home to exceptional craftsmen and women, is located across from Kilkenny Castle, which itself offers guided tours of the historic building and its grounds are a perfect spot to enjoy a Summer picnic.

Located an hour's drive from Dungarvan, the birthplace of the late John F. Kennedy's great-grandfather, the JFK Ancestral Home offers visitors an audio-visual presentation and guided tour through the historical setting of the Kennedy legacy.

Nearby is a memorial arboretum, formally dedicated to the memory of John. F. Kennedy (President of the United States 1961 - 1963). A miniature railway runs during the Summer months and families enjoy, not only the beautiful gardens, but also the picnic area and play unit for children.
