The spectacular scenery
of the Nire Valley, through whih the Nire River follows its course, welcomes hill-walkers
to the region. The Comeragh Mountain Walking Festival is held annually each October,
with graded walks to suit every level of walker from beginner to experienced mountaineer. Cliff
walks extend along the coast near Ardmore, while riverside walks include the Glenshelane
River Walk, which runs through the glorious scenery of Gleann Siothlain ('Glen
of the Fairies') in the Knockmealdown Mountain range.
