Cork Opera House

This modern theatre is the only purpose built opera house in the country. It includes a 1000 seat auditorium, as well as an orchestra pit that can host 70 musicians. In fact, it’s one of the largest stages in Ireland. People travel from far and wide to watch performances in the venue, and the creative plays, concerts and festivals they host are renowned throughout Europe.
This historic venue has been entertaining guests since 1852, despite experiencing a fire in December 1955. Fortunately, the people of Cork rallied to rebuild their beloved Opera House, and a modern theatre was reopened on the same site in 1965. Its experienced continuous refurbishment since them, to ensure each guest enjoys the performances in comfort.
